Allowed Items
No clothing or commissary items will be allowed to be brought to inmates housed at the Brown County Jail. Inmates that are housed at the Brown County Jail will be allowed to either bring in or have brought in the following items once. 5 pairs of underwear, 5 pairs of ankle socks and 3 wireless bras. No packages will be accepted unless the inmate has received prior approval by the Jail Administrator.
To mail a letter to an inmate send it to the Brown County Jail and the post office will deliver it. Any person mailing contraband to an inmate will be prosecuted. All mail, newspapers or approved magazines must be delivered by the US Post Office. Packages from Amazon and USPS are accepted as well. We do not accept mail delivered by hand. Work Release
If an inmate has work release they will be charged an upfront fee of $290.00. This covers the Urine Analysis ($10.00; must be completed before work release is granted) and the first two weeks of work release (at $20.00/day). Each additional week will be charged to the inmate in the amount of $140.00 a week. For out of county or state sentences the cost is $75.00 a day for everyday they are housed in the Brown County Jail.The public can also add money to cover costs. Trustee Program
There is some trustee work available to those prisoners who are sentenced; who get used and where is at the discretion of the Sheriff.
